14.02.2001	Hey guys! We are back in Germany and we want to say hello to all of yours. Have fun, enjoy your studying and have a short look at my last pictures from Melbourne and Bali. Robert and Werner
12.11.2000	Last but not least, I am going to Bali for even more sun and nicer beaches! Werner and I will be back in Germany at December 12.
11.11.2000	Werner and Detlef are leaving Melbourne for a trip to Tasmania. They are doing a two weeks hiking tour without alcohol and girls.
10.11.2000	Werner and I wrote our last exam today. Roger and Amund left Melbourne in direction to Sydney. They stopping in Perth and on Bali on their way back home to Norway. Party time in the evening. Olli, Kelly and Allison (all English) are having a party. It is probably the last party this semester. Everybody is leaving Melbourne for travelling.
09.11.2000	Our gay apartment is getting bigger. Roger, Detlef and Werner are leaving their apartment. They are sleeping two nights (one night) in our apartment. Andreas wrote his last exam.
08.11.2000	28 degrees: Öyvind, Aslak, Andreas, Roger, Duccio, Anna, Werner and I went to Phillip Island in our mini van. We drove together with Johan, Anton, Eva and Claire. Phillip Island is a small island to the south of Melbourne with great beaches. We improved our surfing skills, played beach soccer, beach volleyball and got some sun. I went in the evening to the cinema and saw "What Lies Beneath" with Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer. It is a very good movie!
07.11.2000	Melbourne Cup: A unique event in Australia. It is a horse race with a few horses and a lot of nice girls with hats. In the evening we went to the bar "Inflation". -> Beer in buckets!!! Hmmm.
06.11.2000	This is the last exams week. STUDYING!!!
05.11.2000	We went to the Chapel Street festival. It is a party on one of the famous shopping street in Melbourne. Live music, food and thousands of people on a 2 km long street.
04.11.2000	4:00 am: It is raining in our apartment!?? Water drops are falling from the ceiling in Robert's room, the floor and in the bathroom. The apartment above our apartment has a problem with their water pipes. Anna is having a farewell party at 8:00 pm. Let's go and have some beer.
03.11.2000	Amund, Roger and I went to the cinema. We saw 5 minutes of "The Art Of War" and then everything went dark. The whole cinema was without electricity. The workers in the power plant in Melbourne were on a illegal strike. There was an electricity restriction; we were not allowed to use our washing machine. The fine for using a washing machine was $10000.
02.11.2000	Andreas had another exam. Everybody is studying and reading.
01.11.2000	Amund "Tiger" Hamre played golf after his exam in the afternoon. Andreas, Roger, Werner and I played in the evening poker at Werner's apartment. Andreas won almost $25.
31.10.2000	It is 24 degrees. Let's go surfing! Öyvind, Werner and I drove to Torquay and tried surfing. It was a funny day with some good waves. We have some new pictures from the hiking tour in the Blue Mountains (Gallery 14) and from Melbourne (Gallery 18) on the homepage.
30.10.2000	Cinema: Andreas and I saw "Shaft" with Samuel L. Jackson. We are only giving it three stars.
29.10.2000	Werner and Detlef came over to our apartment and we played cards and watched TV. Damn, they have so many commercials during a movie. Every 12 minutes you can see at least 4 minutes of commercials.
28.10.2000	Werner, Detlef and Roger made a Good-bye-party in their apartment. At 4:30 am came a very angry neighbour and so they had to finish the party. It was a lot of fun, especially the water pistols.
27.10.2000	Let's study! Yes, right, we are in the middle of the exam weeks.
26.10.2000	Souvenir shopping, card writing and cloth washing.
25.10.2000	I had a bad hang over. Damned beer! A lazy day: Let's go to the cinema. Detlef, Werner and I saw "Love, Honour and Obey" with Jude Law. A very good movie!!!
24.10.2000	It is Tuesday, it is time for "Inflation". First we played fussball in another pub an then we had many buckets of beer at the backpackers night.
23.10.2000	A rainy day: Amund had his first exam. It is a day to stay inside and to read something. Poker evening with Andreas, Detlef, Werner and Robert: Lucky boy! Robert won $24 again.
22.10.2000	28 degrees: Roger and Robert went to the beach in St. Kilda and enjoyed the sun. In the evening we (Amund, Andreas, Detlef, Roger, Werner, Robert and Ania) celebrated Ania's last day in Australia. She is going to Japan for one year. We had some beers in the Candy Bar. Have a nice time and thank you for everything!
21.10.2000	Amund, Roger and Robert enjoyed the fauna and flora in the Botanic Garden. Werner and Detlef went to Torquay and tried some surfing.
20.10.2000	Have a look at some new galleries from our mid-semester break at the Sunshine- and Goldcoast, and from the Melbourne Marathon and from the Clayton Campus.
19.10.2000	Werner and I had our first exam in Australia. Some strange rules: It is not allowed to leave the classroom until the official time is over.
18.10.2000	Relaxing with some card games. We played "UNO" and "6 nimmt".
17.10.2000	Bucket-drinking in the pub "Inflation". Werner, Detlef and Andreas had some buckets of beer at the backpacker night.
16.10.2000	Everybody is working and reading. Werner and I have our first exam in three days. Andreas is working on another assignment. Werner doing some schoolwork about optical network.
15.10.2000	New pictures (from the mid-semester break in Brisbane and Sydney) are coming soon, probably this week. I am working on it. Andreas, Detlef, Werner and Robert played poker in the afternoon. Robert won $25. Is that beginner luck? No, I don't think so!
14.10.2000	Jessica has birthday. She is turning to 21 and is celebrating in a pub in Richmond. Happy birthday!
13.10.2000	The party weekend can start. Claire, Ellise, Veronica and Erika are having a party in their house.
12.10.2000	Amund "Tiger" Hamre played golf on a course far away from the city, Andreas did some schoolwork and Werner and I had class at until 6:30 pm (The class started at 4:00 pm).
11.10.2000	Aslak and I went out to the cinema. We cannot recommend the movie "Battlefield Earth". Werner saw "Death Man" with Jonny Depp. That is a better movie.
10.10.2000	Now I know my result in the Melbourne Marathon. My time was 3:49:49 hours and I came in as 662. There were 1363 runners altogether.
09.10.2000	Werner and I had our presentation in optical computing. In the evening Andreas, Detlef, Werner and I went to the International Lounge Bar and played fussball and billiard.
08.10.2000	Some sport events that touched the world: Germany bet England 1:0 in soccer, Michael Schumacher is Formula 1 Champion and Robert finished the Melbourne Marathon in less than 4 hours.
07.10.2000	This is not a holiday: Andreas did some schoolwork, Roger, Amund, Werner and me worked with our presentations.
06.10.2000	Melbourne weather report: 26 degrees and some clouds.
05.10.2000	Our car now has its first official parking ticket. Werner! That was a 2 hour parking, not a 2 week.
04.10.2000	We watched TV. Some good series are Simpson and Seinfeld, but they are making a commercial-break after 10 minutes. The Australian TV program is worse than the European TV program.
03.10.2000	3 weeks to the exams, everybody is reading. We need another mid-semester break.
02.10.2000	16 degrees - It's soooooo cold in Melbourne, compared to Brisbane and Sydney.
01.10.2000	The last day of our mid-semester break is over. We drove almost 4000 km and our car didn't break down. Werner and Amund are having birthday.
30.09.2000	Hiking tour in the Blue Mountain (east of Sydney) - 6 hours over stick and stone. Some pictures are coming soon. It took 11 hours to drive back to Melbourne. Brr, that's cold here.
29.09.2000	Sydney - 32 degrees. We watched sailing in the harbour of Sydney (next to the Opera House). There are a lot of big screens all over the city, where you can see every sports-event.
28.09.2000	Last day in Byron Bay. Öyvind took his first surfing lesson. We drove in the direction of Sydney.
27.09.2000	Long sleep, breakfast and beach (bodysurfing). The temperature is round about 28 degrees. We met Amund and Roger. They are staying at the same place as we.
26.09.2000	Werner and I went to the beach, Aslak and Andreas made their first experiences in hang gliding and Öyvind made scuba diving in the ocean. In the evening we went to a nice backpackers pub - Cheeky Monkey's
25.09.2000	Brisbane downtown: Shopping, postcards and Botanic Garden. In the afternoon we drove further to Byron Bay (Gold Coast) and stayed there in a backpackers hostel ($20 per night)
24.09.2000	Werner, Aslak and Öyvind went hiking and Andreas and I stayed on the beach - Sun! Burn me! At 4:00 pm we drove to Brisbane and slept in a caravan park in the city. Brisbane is nice but not so green as Melbourne.
23.09.2000	We drove to another beach on the Sunshine Coast - Noosa Heads. After some beers in the city we slept on the beach (without tent).
22.09.2000	We arrived after 24 hours in Maroochydore (north of Brisbane) and stayed one night in a backpackers hostel. The weather is great (27 degrees) and the water is pretty warm - good for swimming.
21.09.2000	MID-SEMESTER BREAK - Werner, Aslak, Öyvind, Andreas and Robert are going by minivan to Brisbane. Amund and Roger are taking a flight to Brisbane. We are staying till the second of October. A short weather report from Brisbane: Around 28 degrees and sun, sun, sun. Poor Europe!
20.09.2000	It is time to go to the Irish Pub on Chapel Street. We are going to celebrate our mid-semester break.
19.09.2000	Werner, Andreas, Todd, Jessica and I went to the Olymic soccer games Germany vs Schweden and USA vs Kuwait. Germany won 1:0 and USA won 3:1.
18.09.2000	We got the minivan today. Werner and Aslak picked it up. Todd and Jessica visited us today. They are studying in Brisbane and travelling around Australia during their mid-semester break.
17.09.2000	Great Ocean Road part two. We started our trip in the morning after a night on a camping ground. Next to the road are many beaches and one beach where you can see some wales.
16.09.2000	We drove down to the Great Ocean Road. Werner, Karsten and me drove in Karsten's VW bus. Amund, Roger, Aslak and Öyvind took a rental car.
15.09.2000	Finally we got the keys today. Thank you TBM! We rented a TV and saw the Olympic opening ceremony. It took 4 hours to see the torch. Boring. Roger made some pancakes. Very delicious.
14.09.2000	Detlef came over and we played Skat with him. Amund and Roger went out to the Olympic soccer game between Norway and USA. USA won 2:0.
13.09.2000	Today in Melbourne: 20 degrees and 10 hours of sun.
12.09.2000	A day for studying. Boring. We are looking forward to the midsemester break.
11.09.2000	Robert's air matress broke down. Washing day. Our washing machine makes terrible noises.
10.09.2000	Amund Tiger Hamre played golf. It´s Sunday, so we went shopping!
09.09.2000	The minivan looks good. We payed a deposit of $150 and we will pick it up next friday. Cinema: We can´t recommend the movie "Hollow man". Werner travelled to the Phillip Island.
08.09.2000	Latrobe party: A lot of Skandinavians and free beer - a good combination!
07.09.2000	We celabrated too early. We didn´t get the keys. Waiting...calling...waiting...calling. We called another man to get his minivan. Only 2,5 weeks to the mid-semester break. We are going to have a look at the car on Saturday. Our first Poker night: Robert won $7 - beginner luck!!!
06.09.2000	We didn´t buy the 15 seater! It was too expensive, because we have to pay the rwc (some tax thing). It is very hard to find a good and cheap minivan. Bar night at the Clayton campus. Free beer and pizza, but only 1,5h. We were one hour too late. :-( We went at 10.00pm to the Irish Pub on Chapel Street.
05.09.2000	Hip hip hurray!!! Our apartment - Robert, Amund and Andreas´- is going to get two more keys. Thank you TBM (our real estate agent) after five weeks with only one set of key and three tenants! By the way, all male hair dressers in Australia are gay.
04.09.2000	We called several insurance companies to get a insurance for our car. They don´t want us as costumers. It seems that they have enough money already.
03.09.2000	Sleep long, recovery and go out for another movie (Shanghai Noon). During September the tickets are only $8,50.
02.09.2000	Carhunting part two: We had a look at the 15 seater (mini)van. The car is perfect for 10 people, but it could be funny to drive to Brisbane. In the evening we went to Öyvind and Aslak´s housewarming party.
01.09.2000	We went out to "Frost Bites" on Chapel street. Loud and bad music, but nice girls.
31.08.2000	Merde! We didn´t get the minivan afterall. The guy couldn´t find another car for himself. We called a man with a 15 seater minivan. We are going to look at it Saturday.
30.08.2000	We will go for the second minivan. We have to pay a small deposit today to get the car.
29.08.2000	Amund and Roger are looking for a cheap flight around the north-east of Australia on their mid-semester break.
28.08.2000	We -Öyvind, Aslak, Robert, Andreas and Werner- went out to find a good car for our mid-semester break trip to Brisbane. We looked at two minivans. The second van was looking much better than the first. Maybe we take it.
27.08.2000	Amund and Roger went out to the golf drivingrange. Roger almost made 50 meters, but he didn´t hit the ball. He threw one of Amund´s clubs! Haha, he needs a lot of practice. Sorry Roger!
26.08.2000	Everybody has an hangover. Öyvind and Aslak visited us in our apartment in the evening. We made plans for our mid-semester break.
25.08.2000	BOOZE CRUISE: 145 students on a boot, 4 hours with free alcohol, some food and good music. Everybody can imagine how it was! Pictures coming soon! Afterwards we went to the largest disothec in the southern hemisphere - The QBH!!! Thank you to Raymond, Ania, Jessica and to the rest of you in Mon.Exch.Club.

23.08.2000	Todays schedule: Go to the university and to the Irish-Pub tonight. Skål.

19.08.2000	At 2:00 pm we had a BBQ at the St. Kilda beach. Some exchange students from Germany and Norway had a housewarming party in the evening. That was a funny night.
18.08.2000	We went to Öyvind's and Aslak's (both Norwegian) apartment in St. Kilda. Afterwards we tried a new pub in the near of the beach. - The Prince of Wales

16.08.2000	We went to the irish pub again. A girl came up to us and asked if we are single. She invided us to her birthday party in September due to a lack of single men. Is this there heaven on earth?
15.08.2000	It´s a rainy day. A day for reading and studying only. Where is the sun???
14.08.2000	The Monash exchange club arraned a party in the International Lounge Bar downtown. We got a group photo from the Wilsons Promontory tour.
13.08.2000	Relaxing, relaxing, relaxing. We went with Roger and Werner to the cinema. "American Psycho" - a good movie!
12.08.2000	No time to rest. Today there is another housewarming party. Todays hosts are Johan, Johan and Anton (all Swedish). We met Werner, Roger and Detlef in their apartment to try some new beerbrands.
11.08.2000	We had a housewarming party in our apartment. At 11:30 pm we met our neighbour for the first time, he complained the noise. So we moved from the livingroom into the bedrooms and closed the doors. At 3:00 am the neighbour complained about the noise once again and threatened us with the police. The party was over! 10.08.2000	Amund and me went to the squash courts in the sports and recreation centre on our campus. We played for an hour several games and I beat him like hell and he didn't like it (Hi Amund). A war is born!
09.08.2000	We (Amund, Andreas and me) played some rounds of Skat in the evening. In the next couple of weeks I´ll translate the German rules into English and put them on my homepage. There are a lot of funny translations. e.g. 60:60 - divided ass
08.08.2000	Heute ist der erste Lösungsvorschlag für unser Gewinnspiel per e-mail bei mir eingegangen. Man legte mir nahe, doch schwierigere Fragen zu nehmen.
07.08.2000	Die ersten Bilder sind ab heute zu bewundern.
06.08.2000	Das Aufräumen beginnt und die letzten Stunden werden an einem nahegelegenem Strand verbracht. Ein Bus holt uns Nachmittags ab und bringt uns zurück nach Melbourne. Das Motto heisst jetzt: "Kräfte sammeln für die nächste Woche."
05.08.2000	Ein weiterer schöner Tag bricht an, kurze Hosen, Sonnenbrille und Sonnencreme gehören zu der Standardausrüstung des Tages (Schöne Grüsse nach Deutschland. Höhö.). Heute steht ein langer Erkundungsmarsch auf dem Programm. Wir machen uns in einer kleinen Gruppe auf und sehen dabei einige traumhafte, einsame Strände und Landschaften, wie man sie sonst nur aus Reiseprospekten kennt. Einige Verrückte trauen sich sogar ins Wasser, andere belassen es beim Sonnenbaden. Abends werden einige lustige Gruppenspiele gespielt. Unsere Unterkunft gleicht Nachts einem Geisterhaus, fast jeder schläft jetzt am Stand.
04.08.2000	Der Trip zum 300 Kilometer entfernten Nationalpark "Wilsons Promontory" beginnt verheissungsvoll, wir haben 18 Grad und sehr gute Sicht auf die Sonne (und sie auf uns). Nach 4 Stunden Fahrt lassen wir (insgesamt 45 Exchange-Studenten) den Tag mit einem BBQ und ein paar VB´s (Victoria Bitter) gemütlich enden. Werner, der Naturbursche, schläft die Nacht über in seinem Schlafsack am nahegelegen Strand. Ich, ein von den Bequemlichkeiten der Zivilisation geschwächter Student, bevorzuge doch lieber ein warmes, wenn auch zu kurzes Bett im angemieten Holzhaus.
03.08.2000	Werner, Detlef und Roger geben ihre "Hurra,-wir-haben-ein-Appartement-Einweihungsparty." Viele Gäste (halb Europa, etwas Amerika und Australien), gutes Essen (Chips), abwechslungsreiche Musik (Werners CD-Sammlung) und viele Getränke (Wasser???) sorgen für ordentliche Stimmung, leider nicht bei den Nachbarn. Sorry!!!
02.08.2000	Der erste Waschtag in unserem Appartement! Die gemietete Waschmaschine verweigert im Schleudergang ihren Dienst. Schönen Dank auch!!! Ich darf sämtliche Kleidung mit der Hand auswringen. Abends testen wir einen neuen Pub in unserer Nähe. "Dreimal umfallen und wir sind zu Hause! Werner, Detlef und Roger lassen den Tag mit ein paar Runden Skat ausklingen, dabei entwickelt sich Roger (Norwegen) in Sachen Skat zu einem ernstzunehmenden Gegner.
01.08.2000	Eine Investition in die Zukunft! Heute hab´ ich mir neues Fussballequipment gekauft. Die neuen Schuhe (Nein, keine grünen Schuhe!) und bunte Stutzen haben anscheinend auf den Trainer der Universitätsmannschaft einen ungeheueren Eindruck gemacht. Er hat mich gleich zusammen mit der ersten Mannschaft trainieren lassen. Das Training hat ihm dann aber eines gezeigt. Nicht alle deutschen Fussballer mit neuen Schuhen und bunten Stutzen können Fussball spielen. Werner hat jetzt wohl sein Basketballteam für die nächsten Monate gefunden. Naja, es ist halt kein Problem, wenn man so gut ist! Schnief.
31.07.2000	Das Olympische Feuer ist heute nach Melbourne gekommen. Allerdings war es nur ein kurzes Gastspiel, es ist ja auch noch ein langer Weg nach Sydney. Ich hab einige Fotos von der feierlichen Veranstaltung gemacht. Sie sind in einigen Tagen zu bewundern.
30.07.2000	Hey Leute, was ist denn mit dem Gewinnspiel? Sind die Fragen etwa zu schwer für Euch?
29.07.2000	Eines der beliebtesten Sportarten in Australien ist unbestritten der Football. Heute haben wir uns ein Spiel zwischen Hawthorn und Adelaide im MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) angesehen. Das Stadion fasst über 100000 Menschen. Wow, hat echt Spass gemacht, leider war es etwas kalt im Freien.
28.07.2000	Jetzt sind wir auch online in unserer Wohnung. Andreas hat seinen Laptop mit nach Australien gebracht. Abends machten wir eine Tour durch das Nachleben von Melbourne. Ania (Australierin) zeigte uns weitere Pubs. Wir benötigen bestimmt noch zwei Semester, um alle Pubs von Melbourne zu besuchen. Nein, nein, wir sind nicht nur am Feiern. Das Studium haben wir hier in Melbourne natürlich noch nicht abgebrochen.
27.07.2000	Die ersten paar Vorlesungen haben wir natürlich nicht besuchen können (siehe 26.07.2000). Abends brachte ich meinen beiden Mitbewohnern Amund und Andreas (Norweger und Schwede) das beliebte deutsche Kartenspiel Skat bei. Es ist schon in Deutsch schwer zu erklären und dann auch noch in Englisch. Kein Geschenk!!!
26.07.2000	Heute fand der berühmte Pub-Crawl mit Raymond statt. Dabei wurden mehrere Pubs in der Innenstadt von Melbourne getestet. Lecker, lecker!!!
25.07.2000	Juhu, endlich bekommen wir das Ok des Vermieters unserer Wunschwohnung. Wir unterzeichnen den Vertrag und bringen abends schon die ersten Sachen in unser neues Heim.
24.07.2000	Die Skandinavische-Connection (Amund und Roger) bringt uns ein neues Spiel bei. "Vist" gleicht dem deutsche Spiel Fuchsfangen.
23.07.2000	Wir sind immer noch auf Wohnungssuche. Heute versuchen wir es bei dem Vermieter von Werners Wohnung, einem Österreicher. Abends startet unsere erste offizielle Skatrunde in Australien. Werner, Detlef (Däne) und ich geben unser Bestes, letztendlich bin ich wieder vorne. Hahaha (Hallo Werner!!!).
22.07.2000	Heute haben wir weitere interessante Strassen von Melbourne erkundet. Abends geht es zum 49. Internationalen Filmfestival. Der Film "Jesus´ son" ist anscheinend einer der angesagtesten Filme dieser Veranstaltung. Die anschliessende Diskussion mit der Regisseurin ist auf jeden Fall recht interessant. Nein, wir haben keine Fragen gestellt. Detlef (ein Däne) ist heute bei Werner und Roger eingezogen. Jetzt wird es allmählich etwas eng in der Wohnung.
21.07.2000	Heute haben wir uns die ersten Sachen für unsere Wohnung, die wir hoffentlich bald haben, besorgt. Ein Secondhand-Shop hat verdammt viel zu bieten.
20.07.2000	Wir kommen zum Wetter: Hier bricht der erste regnerische Tag an. Bis jetzt hatten wir eigentlich immer gutes Wetter. Das Tolle: Momentan haben wir hier Winter, wie wird dann erst der Sommer. Im Vergleich zum deutschen Winter ist es hier wirklich angenehm.
19.07.2000	Nichts Neues von der Wohnungsfront. Abends geht es wieder in den Irish-Pub. Werner stürzte ganz schön ab. Nein, ich natürlich nicht!!!
18.07.2000	Wir -Amund (ein Norweger), Andreas (ein Schwede) und ich- haben ein schönes Appartement gefunden. Leider hält uns der Agent noch "on hold". Der Besitzer des Appartement muss noch sein Ok geben. In der Zwischenzeit wohnen wir zur Untermiete bei Werner und Roger (ein Norweger). Danke!!!
17.07.2000	Haha, ist das ein Start ins Studium, unsere erste Vorlesung fällt aus. Der Professor ist in Schweden und hält dort einige Vorträge. Nein, nein, das wird ganz sicher nicht so weitergehen. Nach den Vorlesungen geht es wieder auf Wohnungssuche. Vielleicht haben wir heute mehr Glück.
16.07.2000	Mission Impossible II läuft im Kino. Wir, zwei Deutsche, zwei Norweger und eine Amerikanerin machen uns auf zu unserem ersten "Australien-Kino-Besuch".
15.07.2000	Nach einem langen Schlaf machen wir uns auf, um die Chapel Street, eine grosse Einkaufsstrasse zu erkunden. Abends versuchen wir einige Biersorte im Irish-Pub. Hmmm, lecker! Um ´mal eines klar zu stellen, Fosters hat bei den Australiern nicht unbedingt den besten Ruf. Der klare Favorit ist Victoria Bitter.
14.07.2000	Citytour mit "Altstudenten" Melbourne ist eine schöne Stadt!!! Um 19:00 Uhr richtet der exchange-Club ein Willkommens-Dinner aus. Für $40 freies Essen und freie Getränke (leider nur drei Stunden). Da lassen wir uns doch nicht zweimal bitten, oder? Einige USA-Studenten haben mit dem ungewohnten Alkoholgebrauch hier in Australien (frei ab 18 Jahren) ganz schön Probleme, aber nicht wir Europäer!!! Gelobt sei unser System. Ab heute wohnen wir in dem Richmond Hill Hotel.
13.07.2000	Wir machen uns das erste Mal auf, um uns für die kommenden Monate eine schöne Unterkunft zu suchen.
12.07.2000	Die Informationsflut beginnt: Immatrikulation, Einschreibung und alles Wissenswerte rund um Melbourne. Abends startet ein erstes Kennenlernen bei einen gemütlichen BBQ (Grillabend).
11.07.2000	Mitten in der Nacht, um 02:30 Uhr, landen wir dann endlich in Melbourne. Ein Bus holt uns und noch einige andere Studenten vom Flughafen ab und bringt uns direkt zum Campus. Dort werden wir für die nächsten vier Tage in den Wohnheimen untergebracht ($15 pro Nacht).
10.07.2000	Um 02:45 Uhr heisst es wieder: Sitze senkrecht, Rauchen einstellen und beten. Wir heben wieder ab. Irgendwann stoppen wir für eine Stunde in Singapore. Das Essen an Bord ist wirklich nicht schlecht, hinzu kommt die grosse Auswahl an Radio,- und Fernsehsender.
09.07.2000	Eine wirklich harte Woche und sie will nicht enden. Sijad Mohammed bringt mich direkt von der Hochzeit meiner Schwester um 04:15 Uhr nach Celle. In Celle werde ich von Bernd (Werner´s Bruder) und Tina (Bernd´s bessere Hälfte) aufgegriffen und mit nach Braunschweig genommen. In Braunschweig wartet Werner schon auf uns und wir machen uns direkt auf nach Frankfurt. Um 15:15 Uhr steigen wir endlich in die Lüfte und ich kann endlich ein paar Stunden schlafen. Um 23:30 Uhr landen wir in Dubai. Wow, ist das hier warm! 36 Grad um Mitternacht.

01.07.2000	Heute habe ich die letzte Klausur des Semesters geschrieben. Werner, der Lebemann war natürlich schon wieder eine Woche vor mir "klausurenfrei"! Wir zählen schon die Tage bis zu unserem Abflug: 9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...Good bye!!!
18.06.2000	Juhu, unsere VISA sind heute angekommen. Wir hatten uns schon Gedanken gemacht, daß wir sie nicht rechtzeitig zum Abflug zurückbekommen. Man sagte uns etwas von einer sechswöchigen Bearbeitungszeit, letztendlich hat es nur knapp 14 Tage gedauert. Jetzt müssen wir uns nur noch um eine Unterkunft in Melbourne kümmern. AUSTRALIEN WIR KOMMEN!
05.06.2000	Endlich ist die Bestätigung der australischen Universität da. Wir benötigen die Unterlagen für unseren VISA-Antrag. Der Antrag ging natürlich heute gleich mit der Post Richtung Berlin. Jetzt heißt es wieder warten, warten, warten.
31.05.2000	Heute waren wir bei der vorgeschriebenen ärztlichen Untersuchung in Hannover. Der zehnminütige Spaß hat uns mal eben 116 DM gekostet. Immerhin haben wir jetzt die Gewissheit, daß wir nicht an Tuberkulose leiden.
23.05.2000	Der Flug ist gebucht. Durch den starken Dollar hat sich der Preis noch einmal um 200 DM auf 1900 DM erhöht.
22.05.2000	Für den VISA-Antrag benötigen wir noch eine Bestätigung über die uns zustehende Auslandsförderung vom BAföG-Amt. Hurra, es lebe die Bürokratie und der Erfinder aller Anträge.
17.05.2000	Die Vorbereitungen laufen auf Hochtouren. Wir warten auf die Bestätigung der australischen Universität, um endlich unseren VISA-Antrag zu stellen. Vorher müssen wir über uns noch eine ärztliche Untersuchung ergehen lassen. "Bloß keine schlimme Krankheit einschleppen."
14.04.2000	Die Anträge und der Scheck ist auf dem Weg nach Australien. Herr Buchwald, ein Professor von uns, nimmt die Unterlagen mit nach "Down Under". Er gibt einige Vorlesungen an der Monash Universität in Melbourne.
18.01.2000	Heute haben wir die Bewerbungsunterlagen Richtung Melbourne geschickt. "Mein Gott, die Post hat schon gesalzene Preise."
